These Whelk fossils, Neptunea contraria are from the Red Crag layers at Walton on the Naze, Essex. It has the unusual famous "left-spiral shell". We have two specimens available. They are stained redish brown due to iron-rich water washing over them. A small bit of wear to the points. From an old collection. The average length is 6cm and weight 22gms. Specimens may vary from the photo. Pliocene - 3 million years.
